ISRAEL THE HEAVENLY KINGDOM: Yahshua The Messiah
(Study 4-B)

After the Jews had returned from exile, and had performed the works of reform under Ezra and Nehemiah, they were once again established as a free people. Unfortunately, this state of freedom was not to last. The reforms did produce lasting effects, however, and even though Jerusalem was ultimately made subservient to Rome (the fourth kingdom prophesied by Daniel), the Jews never again took foreign wives, or openly profaned the Sabbath day.

In fact, they took these rules to painful extremes, forbidding many things that were never written in the Law; and sadly, they began to view foreigners as contaminated. They would not even eat anything unless special precautions were made first, in case the food or utensils had been defiled by contact with anyone or anything that they considered ritually unclean! (Mark 7:1-9) In the Bible it is written, "Ye shall observe to do therefore as Yahweh your God hath commanded you: ye shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left." (Deu 5:32) By carrying their precautions too far, the Jews avoided the ditch on the left hand side of the true path, only to fall into the one on the right. The very people they were supposed to be teaching, the Judaeans began to avoid.

Nevertheless, the fullness of time had come, and the stage was set; the Father was about to send the most clear revelation of Himself into the world through His people, and to complete the work that the Chosen People were meant to have been doing all along. In this study, we will look at a few of the prophecies concerning the Person who was sent to perform this service.
